MISSION: To provide financial assistance to poor and needy citizens of Chickasaw County. Assistance may include temporary help with rent, utilities, food, and medications when the person cannot provide these items for themselves. Payment may also be made for emergency medical situations, and we determine eligibility for persons to obtain medical assistance at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral expenses may also be paid for indigent persons. Eligibility for these programs will be determined by the General Assistance Director after the person fills out an application and provides substantiating proof of need.

We are located in the Community Services Building at 260 East Prospect in New Hampton. The Chickasaw County General Assistance office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings (except holidays).
