Where are services provided and what services do we offer?

Service is provided to clients in their home. Services offered include, but are not limited to:

  • Personal Cares: assisting with bathing, hair care, skin care, ambulation (walking), range of motion exercises and respite care, under the supervision of a registered nurse or a supervisor
  • Environmental Cares: light housekeeping, laundry, grocery and essential shopping and meal preparation.
  • Support services: encourage independence, emotional support, and active listening.
  • Family Support Services: To strengthen the unity of the family, work with the parents and child on behavior management, skill development, nurturing, and maintenance of a clean and safe home environment, basic physical care and hygiene of children.

What is a Home Care Aide?

The Home Care Aide is a trained and supervised paraprofessional who provides services which range from basic housekeeping to complex personal care.

Who does the Home Care Program answer to?

This agency is governed by the Chickasaw Board of Supervisors and the Iowa State Department of Health.

How often will my Home Care Aide come?

After the initial assessment, the supervisor, case manager, or registered nurse will determine the frequency and duration of visits.

Who is eligible?

Our service is available to all residents of Chickasaw County in need of Home Care Aide services. A client may qualify for limited Respite Care, Home Care Aide Service, Homemaker Service, Chore Services or any combination of these services. If the client is approved, services will be covered by a Medicare Certified Agency, Elder Waiver, Alzheimer's Assocation, or Veterans Administratrion. Insurance may be billed if approved for Home Care Aide Service.

How much does the home care service cost?

The initial assessment is free of charge. A sliding fee scale is used to determine the fee after a financial assessment has been made.

How do I get service?

Referrals for service may come from anyone, include self, family, friends, neighbors, doctors, nurses, hospital social sworkers, or any other source. To make a referral call (641) 394-2049 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Our office is located at the Chickasaw County Community Services Building, 260 East Prospect, New Hampton, IA 50659.

Chickasaw County Home Care services are coordinated with many community agencies including:

  • Area hospitals
  • Hospice
  • County Health Nurse
  • HVAAA
