Have you heard about Empowerment?

It's exciting, the focus is on young Children 0-5 years old.

Empowerment is made up of a board, and local volunteer advisory committee.

Empowerment promotes partnerships between communities and state government with the idea of improvement for families of young children.

The goal of empowerment is to improve early age child development and provide options for lower income childcare.

CHICKASAW COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH is a part of the empowerment team in which we provide several health services that is paid for through the empowerment grant.

Nursing Services Provided

  • Home visits to mom and baby after birth
  • Home visits to young children ages 0-5 yrs old for a variety of health needs
  • Breast feeding education to mothers
  • Provide breast pumps to low income breast feeding mothers
  • Provide car seat safety checks
  • Lead screenings for children 6 mos to 5 years old
  • Childhood immunizations
  • Educational materials available for a number of illness/health concerns
  • Hepatitis B Immunizations for Child Care workers
