Disease Prevention
FLU vaccine is typically available between October and January
Due to recent shortages in the FLU vaccine, first priority is given to persons
who are 65 and over +/or with disease processes, health care workers. After
high risk population groups are served with the FLU vaccine, CHICKASAW COUNTY
PUBLIC HEALTH offers the FLU vaccine to the public and local businesses.
Variety of clinic sites are designated
* Community Center in New Hampton
* Community Center in Nashua
* Amvets Hall in Fredericksburg
* Lutheran Church in Alta Vista
* St Boniface Church in Ionia
* Father Moran Center in Lawler
* Community Services Bldg in New Hampton
Clinic sites will be posted in the local newspapers prior to the event. It is
not necessary to call for appointments at these sites. The FLU vaccine is
offered at these sites on a first come, first serve basis to individuals
considered high risk.
For homebound residents in Chickasaw County, arrangements are made for the
Registered Nurse to administer the FLU vaccine at their home by calling our
office at (641) 394-4053 or Toll Free at 1-800-579-5815.
Medicare covers the cost of the vaccine. Be sure to bring your Medicare Card to
the clinics. 2004 FLU season vaccine charge was at $22.00 for those not on
Medicare and may be subject to change during the 2005 FLU season depending on
the cost.
