COUNTY BOARD MINUTES

NOVEMBER 1 & 2, 2004

 

The Board convened in the Courthouse first floor meeting room on Monday, November 1, 2004 at 9:30 AM with all members present: Boge, Huegel, Schueth, Pickar, Mattke. Supervisor Schueth left the meeting at 10:45 AM.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Boge. Mail was opened and distributed.

 

Board members were updated as to Hospiceís request for approval of placing their annual Hospice Tree in the first floor lobby of the Courthouse.

 

Motion by Huegel, Seconded by Pickar, to approve the Hospice Tree on the first floor lobby of the Courthouse for Magical Moments event on December 2, 2004 5:30 PM. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Huegel, Seconded by Schueth, to approve hire of Bonnie Kestel at $8.00 per hour, as part-time, on-call Homemaker Aide, effective November 2, 2004. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

County Engineer Dusten Rolando met with the Board to discuss road departmental activities, with the Board approving permits as follows:

 

Motion by Huegel, Seconded by Schueth, to approve and authorize Chairman Signature on permit for Iowa Telecom to replace existing buried cable on LaSalle Avenue in East Section 24, Township 96, Range 13. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Pickar, Seconded by Huegel, to approve and authorize Chairman Signature on permit for Iowa Telecom to place buried cable on 200th Street in South Section 6, Township 95, Range 12. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Huegel, Seconded by Boge, to approve and authorize Chairman Signature on permit for Iowa Telecom to place buried cable on Cheyenne Avenue in East Section 9, Township 95, Range 12. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.  

 

Motion by Schueth, Seconded by Pickar, to approve and authorize Chairman Signature on permit for Hawkeye REC for extension of existing buried cable .5 miles east of Chickasaw County Shop on 200th Street. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Schueth, Seconded by Mattke, to approve Board Minutes of October 25 & 26, 2004. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

The Board allowed claims.

 

Pat Wegman, County Attorney, met with the Board to present his recommendation for a continuation of West Law library contract.

 

Motion by Mattke, Seconded by Huegel, to approve and authorize Chairman Signature on 3-year contract for internet access with West Law at $198.00 for 1st year; $206.00 for 2nd year and $214.00 3rd year. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Pickar, Seconded by Huegel, to adjourn at 12:50 PM. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

The Board convened on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 9:30 AM with all members present: Boge, Huegel, Schueth, Pickar, Mattke. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Boge. Mail was opened and distributed.

 

Jennifer Knutson and Becky Ball, representing Chickasaw Mitchell Case Management Agency, met with the Board to update county client services.

 

The Board allowed claims.

 

Supervisor Pickar updated heat assistance client numbers and Turkey River Water Shed Study with no action taken on either topic.

 

Agency audits for Iowa Northland Regional Housing Authority, ending June 30th, 2004 and Cedar Valley Mental Health, ending June 30 and October 26, 2004 were reviewed and placed on file in the Auditorís Office. The Board received and filed Sanitation Report of October 2004.

 

Ken Rasing met with the Board regarding increased funding from the Iowa Department of Public Health from the Grants to Counties Well Program, with Chairman Boge signing Amendment #1 increasing said funding from $13,130.00 to $19,942.00. 

 

Chairman Boge declared adjournment at 11:30 AM.
