Treasurer Sue Breitbach met with the Board to review and request tax abatements for unpaid and uncollectible mobile homes taxes. A resolution will follow next week.
CountyEngineer Dusten Rolando met with the Board to discuss road departmental activities.
The foreman report was reviewed, and discussion followed regarding fugitive dust control on county roads and county road resurfacing made up of recycled road grindings and millings.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Huegel, to approve and authorize Chairman Signature on Adopt-A-Highway renewal for the Ionia Volunteer Fire Department to remove litter along V-14 from Highway 18 South two miles. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Huegel, Seconded by Boge, to approve and authorize Chairman Signature on permit for Iowa Telecom to replace buried cable along Durham Avenue in Section 10 of Chickasaw Township. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

New Hampton Fire Chief Steve Geerts visited with the Board to request a burn site for an upcoming building demolition project. Owner Chip Schwickerath has proposed paying the fire department versus paying the landfill approximately $30,000.00 for disposition of building materials.No action was taken at present on the request, with the Board requesting an action site plan.
Becky Ball, representing Chickasaw Mitchell Case Management met with the Board to review case management client services.
Bob Soukup, Economic Development Director met with the Board for a Progress Casting industry update, and a job development agreement discussion.
Motion by Huegel, Seconded by Boge, to set public hearing date of May 24, 2005 at 10:00 AM for FY 2004-05 budget amendment. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Sheila Kobliska, CPC, met with the Board for approval of computer equipment.

Fred Hall introduced himself as Mary Schrandt Prouty’s replacement in the position of Iowa State University County Extension Education Director.
Supervisor Pickar updated a Conservation meeting as follows: No additional summer help is anticipated.Commissioner of Elections request for handicapped accessibility and parking at the NatureCenter was reviewed with compliance provisions approved, as the NatureCenter will become an election polling site approximately January 1, 2006.A request for additional crushed rock placement on the access to the landfill building conservation building currently uses for storage. NatureCenter bees succumbed to winterkill and will have to be replaced.
The Board received and filed Manure Management Plan Update filed by Jeff Pleggenkuhle, West Site (ID#63767), located in Fayette County with site applications in Chickasaw County; Meirick Enterprises (ID#58676) located at 1049 York Ave., Ft. Atkinson. Also filed were IDNR notifications of Administrative Approval of Manure Management Plans for Chambers Farms, Inc., (ID#58948) located at 1355 190th Street, Ionia; Exeter, LTD. (ID#59543) located at 2751 Exeter Ave., Nashua.
Homemaker Health Advisory Board members, Lenore Rodamaker and Donna Dietzenbach along with Agency Director Bernette Njus and Alice Eschweiler met with the Board for recruitment comments and to present their Board’s recommendation of Jeanne Heit for director beginning July 1, 2005.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Huegel, to approve appointment of Jeanne Heit to Homemaker Home Health Agency Director as of July 1, 2005, at an annual salary of $39,000 through June 30, 2006, with employment beginning on May 31, 2005 and a six month probationary review with no salary adjustment. Motion by Huegel, Seconded by Boge, to approve and authorize Chairman Signature on Chickasaw County Job Development Agreement with Progress Casting Group, defining three year period for attaining and five year retention period of 150 jobs at $1000.00 per job. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
