COUNTY BOARD MINUTES
DECEMBER 24 & 25, 2007
The Board convened on Monday, December 24, 2007 at with all members present: Pickar, Huegel, Boge, Schueth, Mattke. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Pickar. Mail was opened and distributed.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Schueth, to approve agenda for December 24, 2007.All Ayes, Motion Carried.
Motion by Schueth, Seconded by Boge, to approve meeting minutes of December 17 & 18, 2007.All Ayes. Motion Carried.
CPC Sheila Kobliska met with the Board for Review of the Case Management Report July through November of 2007.
Jeremy McGrath met with the Board to discuss current issues and future of the ambulance business within the county.
Steve Lynch met with the Board to present the 2007 Compensation Board recommendations as follows: Supervisors $2000; Sheriff $8000; Auditor, Treasurer, Recorder each $4200; Attorney $8000.The recommendation was received and placed on file pending consideration within the context of the total FY 2008-09 CountyBudget.
Head Custodian Dave Gorman met with the Board to discuss Courthouse north door maintenance and water quality at CommunityServicesBuilding.
Assessor Doug Welton met with the Board for review and discussion of the 2007 valuations for the FY 2008-09 Budget, with discussion following. Combining all property classifications and utilities, there was a net increase of $82,932,866 valuation over the 2006 valuation year.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Mattke, to approve request for NICC Special election administrative recount as per Iowa Code Section 50.50.Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Huegel, Seconded by Schueth, to adopt Resolution approving expenditure of $1000 on Laborshed Survey from Local Option Sales Tax Economic Development Fund. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. Resolution 12-24-07-38.Authorizing An Expenditure Of $1,000.00For ChickasawCounty Laborshed Survey. WHEREAS, the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors desires to promote county and area wide economic development and expansion; WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has considered the $1,000.00 funding request by the Economic Development Director of Chickasaw County for their participation for the Laborshed Survey, and has decided there is merit for joining the partnership, for the following reasons:1. Approximately half of Chickasaw County''s residents live in the unincorporated area.
2.Laborshed survey defines available workforce for industries considering locating within the county.NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors, this 24TH day of December 2007, to adopt this resolution for an expenditure of $1,000.00 to be paid from the Economic Development Fund of the Local Option Sales Tax, as approved by board motion. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of Chickasaw County that the CountyAuditor is hereby authorized and directed to issue a warrant for $1,000.00 for ChickasawCounty''s participation of County Laborshed Survey.
