COUNTY BOARD MINUTES

OCTOBER 4 & 5, 2010

 

The Board convened on Monday, October 4, 2010 with all members present: Boge, Holthaus, Mattke, Andersen and Pickar. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Boge. Mail was opened and distributed. 

 

Motion by  Holthaus, Seconded by Pickar to approve agenda for October 4 & 5, 2010.    All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Andersen, Seconded by Holthaus to approve board minutes of September 27 & 28, 2010. All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

County Engineer Dusten Rolando met with the Board to discuss departmental activities. Topics included: maintenance and services of vehicles; maintenance of gravel roads;

Entrance work at various area; permits at various areas; ditch cleaning and permits; sign repair at different areas; sign vandalism at Alta Vista; spot rocking at various area; drilling frost boils areas; mowing gravels; start tar buggy; culver at 2450 140th street; LaSalle Avenue survey work; Groves bridge plans; DNR permits; right of way; etc.

 

Motion by Mattke, Seconded by Pickar to approve permit for Windstream Communications to place buried cable in the county right of way along 250th Street in Section 2, Fredericksburg Township.  Roll Call:  All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Mattke, Seconded by Holthaus to approve and authorize Chairman signature to the IDOT Secondary Road Budget amendment for FY 2010-2011.  Roll Call:  All Ayes.  Motion Carried.

 

The Board discussed offering AFLAC to Employees of the County.  

 

Motion by Andersen, Seconded by Pickar to authorize AFLAC group enrollment at no cost to the Chickasaw county and to implement the plan through payroll deduction at the direction of the County employee who so chooses.  Roll Call:  All Ayes.  Motion Carried.

 

Cedar Valley Friends of the Family representative Pam Schrock met with the Board to request permission to place a clothesline of T-shirts on the courthouse lawn and to sign a proclamation for October Domestic Violence Awareness month .

 

Motion by Holthaus, Seconded by Andersen to authorize Chairman signature on the proclamation for October Domestic Violence Awareness month.  Roll Call:  All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by  Pickar,  Seconded by Andersen to adjourn the meeting at 12:05 P. M. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

The Board convened on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 with all members present: Boge, Holthaus, Mattke, Andersen, and Pickar. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Boge. Mail was opened and distributed.

 

Ken Rasing met with the Board for a Heritage Residence and Sanitation departmental update.  Also present was Jill Brincks.

 

Ken Rasing reported the window project at the Heritage Residence started this week.  Ken stated that the Sanitation Department is possibly moving to the new location at the end of the month. Sanitarian Rasing will continue to give a progress report to the Board on the moving project.

 

The Board briefly discussed the Chickasaw County Tourism Coordinator position.  The Board agreed to discuss the position further and invite the Chickasaw County Tourism Committee and stakeholders to participate in the discussion. 

 

Received and filed Jendro Sanitation rural recycling collection for the month of September, 2010.

 

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Annual Update for Gold Standard Farms L.C. (ID# 62537) in Section 27 of Cedar East Township located at 3150 110th Street, Charles City, IA 50616.

 

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Annual Update for Gerald Lynch (ID# 58597) in Section 27 of Utica Township located at 1779 Vanderbilt Avenue, Lawler, IA 52154.

 

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Annual Update for Wesley Ltd-Rings Site  (ID# 66112) in Section 35 of Cedar East Township located at 1203 Windfall Avenue, Charles City, IA 50616.

 

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Plan for Weidler Site in Section 36 of New Hampton Township.

 

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Plan for Seamans North in Section 20 of Dresden Township.

 

Received and filed Jacksonville Township Annual Report for Receipts and Disbursements for FY 2009-10.

 

Motion by Holthaus, Seconded by Mattke to adjourn the meeting at 11:05 AM. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
