Conservation Director Brian Moore met with the Board for a departmental update.
Also present was Assistant County Attorney Mark Huegel. Brian discussed the North American Wetlands Conservation Act Grant for the Troyna Property and the restoration additional grant money in the amount of $41, 495.00.
The County Engineer Dusten Rolando met with the Board to discuss road departmental activities.Topics included:maintenance and service of vehicles; maintenance of gravel roads entrance permits; work orders, driveway repair; MSHA meeting, safety meetings; sign repair as needed; getting detours ready; blades out on various gravels; spot rocking in various areas; spot rock for dust control in various areas; Division 4 rock started; bridge #2030 repair abutments; concrete patching; bridge inspection; rock gradation at Busta quarry; 5 county meeting in St. Lucas, etc.
Motion by Pickar, Seconded by Byrne to close Bridge #110580 on 260th Street East of Ivanhoe Avenue as per recommendation of Calhoun-Burns & Associates, Inc of West Des Moines, IA.Roll Call:All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Zoll, Seconded by Andersen to adopt resolution to change bridge postings on Bridges #019880 and #111200.Roll Call:All Ayes. Motion Carried. Resolution 04-23-12-15:
WHEREAS, Chickasaw County completes an inspection of all bridges and structures on the Secondary Road System of Chickasaw County and WHEREAS, part of this inspection involves the recalculation of the safe load capacity of any structure showing remarkable deterioration of the structural components of that structure and WHEREAS, that structural evaluation has resulted in the recommendation to reduce the safe load capacity that can be supported by certain structures, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on this 23rdday of April, 2012 as provided in Sections 321.471, 321.472, and 321.473, Code of Iowa to erect and/or maintain weight limit signs in advance of the following bridges located on the Federal Aid and Local Secondary Road System as follows:

Supervisors Andersen and Holthaus updated the Board on the FiveCounty meeting held in St. Lucas on April 19, 2012.

The Board convened on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 with all members present:Holthaus, Byrne, Zoll, Pickar, and Andersen.The meeting was called to order by Chairman Holthaus. Mail was opened and distributed.
Assessor Doug Welton met with the Board to review and approve the 2012 Slough Bill applications for property tax exemption through the Soil Conservation Slough Bill approval process.Iowa law allows a 10% increase each year with the first year, if needed, starting at 3,000 acres.The County presently has 4455.15 acres as of January 1, 2012 versus an acre count of 4292.80 as of January 1, 2011.This is an increase of 162.35acres.The present amount of acres that are allowed in the county is 5,314 acres.Five failed to complete 2012 renewal and were disallowed the exemption.
Motion by Andersen, Seconded by Zoll to approve the list as presented for 2012 slough bill applications and authorize Chairman Signature to sign notifications toproperty owners not renewing 2012 slough bill applications.Roll Call:All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Chief Deputy Todd Miller met with the Board to acknowledge the hiring of deputy sheriff. Also present were Sheriff Marty Larsen and Ryan Shawver. Discussion followed.
Motion by Andersen, Seconded by Pickar to acknowledge the hiring of Ryan Shawver as full time deputy sheriff effective April 30, 2012 as per union contractand as per recommendation of Chief Deputy Todd Miller .Roll Call:All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Ken Rasing met with the Board to discuss Heritage Residence possible lease changes. Ken Rasing will review the current lease agreement, add or delete any changes to the lease agreement, and review with the Board the new proposed lease agreement at a later date.
Chickasaw County Tourism Coordinator/Director Mary Schrandt-Prouty met with the Board for a departmental update.Topics discussed were entities that currently have Hotel-Motel Tax and how much money generated and examples of how hotel-motel tax money is used.The education/promotion committee, fundraiser committee and resolution/ordinance committee will schedule another meeting.

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Plan for Reicks-Rausch Site (ID # 65878) in Section 12 of Stapleton Township located at 3331 210th Street, Waucoma, IA52171.
