COUNTY BOARD MINUTES

APRIL 30 & MAY 1, 2012

 

The Board convened on Monday, April 30, 2012 with all members present:   Byrne, Holthaus, Andersen, Zoll, and Pickar.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Holthaus. Mail was opened and distributed. 

 

Motion by Pickar, Seconded by Byrne to approve agenda for April 30 & May 1, 2012.   Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Andersen, Seconded by Zoll to approve board minutes of April 23 & 24, 2012.   Roll Call:  All Ayes.  Motion Carried.

 

The County Engineer Dusten Rolando met with the Board to discuss road departmental activities.  Topics included:  maintenance and service of vehicles; maintenance of gravel roads; entrance permits; sign repair; set up detour; closed 260th bridge; tandem truck bids today; blades out all week; spot rock various areas; dust control, getting ready; V48 edge rutting; Jerico blacktop, edge rutting this week; bridge repair, Blazek bridge; cleaned bridge decks; SIIMS bridge reports; rock gradations, Busta quarry; paving project B57, Floyd and Chickasaw, etc.

 

Chairman opened sealed bids for a new tandem truck. Also present was Tom Elgin representing Truck Country.  Initial bids received from Truck Company in amount $164,987.00; Donís Truck Sales in the amount of $161,850.00; and Hawkeye Truck & Trailer in the amount of $166,243.00 for Tri-State Equipment and $166,181.00 for Henderson Equipment.  The bids were for 2013 models.  County Engineer Dusten Rolando reviewed the bids for the new tandem truck. Discussion followed.   After reviewing bids, it was the recommendation of the County Engineer to purchase the new 2013 tandem truck from Donís Truck Sales for $161,850.00.

 

Motion by Byrne, Seconded by Zoll to purchase a 2013 tandem truck from Donís Truck Sales in the amount of $161,850.00.  Roll Call:  All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Byrne, Seconded by Andersen to approve the hiring of Carlie Schnoebelen, Ryan Kurash, Chris Shekleton, and Austin Walk as summer road department employees, as per scale and the possibility of hiring a 5th employee.  Roll Call:  All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Pickar, Seconded by Byrne to adjourn the meeting at 12:06 P.M.  Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

The Board convened on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 with all members present:   Holthaus, Byrne, Zoll, Pickar, and Andersen.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Holthaus. Mail was opened and distributed. 

  

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Annual Update for Dale and Linda Rosonke (ID # 62840) in Section 17 of Dayton Township located at 2132 Gilmore Avenue, New Hampton, IA 50659.

 

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Annual Update for Harold & Karen Lantow-Lantow Site 1 (ID # 63592) in Section 12 of Dresden Township located at 2706 260th Street, Fredericksburg, IA 50630.

 

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Annual Update for Steve Boevers-Dresden, LLC (ID # 64497) in Section 31 of Dresden Township located at 2275 310th Street, Fredericka, IA 50631.

 

The Board received and filed IDNR Manure Management Annual Update for Donald Chambers (ID # 58948) in Section 8 of Deerfield Township located at 1195 150th Street, Charles City, IA 50616.

 

Motion by Andersen, Seconded by Pickar to adjourn the meeting at 12:15 P.M.  Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
