COUNTY BOARD MINUTES FEBRUARY 10 & 11, 2014 The Board convened on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 9:30 AM with all members present: Geerts, Byrne, Holthaus, Andersen and Zoll. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Holthaus. Mail was opened and distributed. Also present was a member from the media. Motion by Byrne, Seconded by Zoll to approve agenda for February 10 & 11, 2014. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. Motion by Andersen, Seconded by Geerts to approve board minutes of February 10 & 11, 2014. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. President of the Chickasaw County Cemetery Commission Wally Boehmer met with the Board for an update on the Pioneer Cemetery Commission. Also present were Fred and Priscilla Reisner. The Chickasaw County Cemetery Commission is in the process of updating the Pioneer Cemetery Commission brochure. Mr. Boehmer stated the purpose of the commission is to help to establish minimum standards for the maintenance and restoration of pioneer cemeteries which meet the requirements to be so designated. According to Iowa law, a “pioneer cemetery means a cemetery where there have been twelve or fewer burials in the preceding fifty years.” The Commission promotes public awareness of the problems facing these cemeteries. The commission also serves in an advisory capacity for cemetery trustee who request it. The County Engineer Dusten Rolando met with the Board to discuss road departmental activities. Topics included: maintenance and service of vehicles, maintenance of gravel roads; 2-3-14 one ways out, blower out, motorgraders; 2-4-14 motorgraders out, pushing back; 2-5-14 cleaning up, pushing back snow; fixing mailboxes in various spots; 2-16-14 cleaning up, pushing back; 2-7-14 cleaning up, pushing back, blower out; 2-8-14 one ways out form 9-5; 2-10-14 four one ways out, motorgraders cleaning up; Ushers bridge removal of old structure; PCC certification, Roman in Mason City; Skid loaders quotes today. Dusten Rolando reviewed the bids and comparisons with the Board. Discussion followed. Motion by Geerts, Seconded by Byrne to purchase a Bobcat skid loader from Mitko, New Hampton, Iowa in the amount of $61,842.49 as per the recommendation of the County Engineer. Discussion followed. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. The Board reviewed the FY 2014-2015 county budget. Motion by Byrne, Seconded by Andersen to set the public hearing for the FY 2014-2015 county budget for March 3, 2014 at 10:30 AM. in the Board Room on the 2nd Floor of the Courthouse. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. Budget worksession. Motion by Geerts, Seconded by Andersen to adjourn the meeting at 12:15 PM. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. The Board convened on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 9:30 AM with all members present: Geerts, Zoll, Holthaus, Byrne and Andersen. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Holthaus. Mail was opened and distributed. Budget worksession. The Board allowed claims. Supervisor Andersen left at Noon to attend another meeting. The Board received and filed an Original Manure Management Plant for Larry Nilges-Evans Site. (ID#) in Section 5 of Sumner Township located Bremer County, IA. The Board received and filed an Annual Update for Bill and Ted Elliott-Bill & Ted Elliott Farm. (ID# 58726) in Section 20 of Fredericksburg Township located at 2969 290th Street, Fredericksburg, IA 50658. Received and filed Jendro Sanitation Rural Recycling Collection Report for the month of February 2014. Motion by Zoll, Seconded by Geerts to adjourn the meeting at 12:25 PM. Roll Call: All Ayes.
