COUNTY BOARD MINUTES FEBRUARY 20 & 21, 2017 The Courthouse and offices were closed on Monday, February 20, 2017 in observance of the Presidents’ Day Holiday. The Board convened on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 9:00 AM with all members present: Geerts, Carolan, Hackman, Tilkes, and Zoll. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Zoll. Mail was opened and distributed. Motion by Geerts, Seconded by Hackman to approve agenda for February 20 & 21, 2017. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. Motion by Hackman, Seconded by Geerts to approve board minutes of February 13, 14, & 16, 2017. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. Ken Rasing and Staci Schutte met with the Board for an update on the Landfill. Also present was Assistant County Attorney Mark Huegel. Mr. Rasing informed the Board that Howard R. Green will be doing the inspections once a year (For example Spring inspection in 2018 and Fall inspection in 2019) and the grass seeding should be completed by April or May of this year. Ken Rasing also discussed with the Board the Medical Examiners. The Board will look into the matter further after the Heartland Insurance meeting in March. Assistant County Attorney and Conservation Direction Brian Moore met with the Board to discuss the Department of Transportation property North of US Highway 63. After discussion, the County Attorney’s office will contact the Department of Transportation and update the Board of their findings at a later date. Motion by Hackman, Seconded by Carolan to approve Floyd-Mitchell-Chickasaw Solid Waste Management Agency financial report ending September 30, 2017. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. The County Engineer Dusten Rolando met with the Board to discuss road departmental activities. Topics included: maintenance and service of vehicles; maintenance of gravel roads; brushing in various areas across the County all week; FEMA paperwork continues; rock delivered to radio tower; repaired concrete forms for next week work; sign repair in various areas; sign inventory; minimal rock, couple spots, bad potholes; minimal spot blading, too wet yet; Cheyenne Avenue bridge design; Boyd road bridge, contracts signed today; FY 18 budget & FY 18 Construction program; etc. Motion by Hackman, Seconded by Carolan to approve contract and authorize Chairman to sign for Project BRS-C019(83)—60-19 bridge construction on 240th Street near Quinlan Avenue. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried. New Hampton Park & Recreation Coordinator Tara Hackman met with the Board to discuss the City of New Hampton Municipal Pool Project. Also present was Patrick Brickley. Discussion followed. The Board asked Mrs. Hackman to contact RC & D and Ms. Hackman will update the Board of her findings at a later date. The Board took the matter under advisement. Received and filed in the Auditor’s Office MMP Short Form for Annual Updates for Craig Kurtenbach (ID#67040) in Section 16 of Stapleton Township located at 3028 210th Street, Lawler, IA 52154. Received and filed in the Auditor’s Office MMP Short form for Annual Updates for Steve Wiley-H.P. Wiley Site-(ID# 59391) in Section 25 of New Hampton Township located at 2348 Quinlan Avenue, Fredericksburg, IA 50630. The Board allowed claims. Motion by Geerts, Seconded by Tilkes to adjourn the meeting at 11:50 AM. Roll Call: All Ayes.
