COUNTY BOARD MINUTES
JANUARY 2, 2009
At 9:30 A.M., elected officials from the General Election of 2008 was administered oath of office by Clerk of Court, Damian Baltes. Officials receiving their oath of office were Supervisors Richard Holthaus John Andersen, and Virgil Pickar Jr. Auditor, Joan E. Knoll, and Sheriff Marty Larsen.
The Board convened on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 9:40 A.M. with all members present. Boge, Pickar, Andersen, Holthaus, Mattke. Mail was opened and distributed.
Motion by Mattke, Seconded by Andersen to approve agenda for January 2, 2009
All Ayes. Motion Carried
Motion by Mattke, Seconded by Andersen to nominate and appoint Virgil Pickar Jr. as Chairman for the year 2009 and cease nominations. Roll Call: Boge, Mattke, Andersen, Mattke. Abstain. Pickar. Motion Carried.
Motion by Mattke Seconded by Holthaus to nominate and appoint Arnie J. Boge as Vice-chairman for the year 2009. and cease nominations. Roll Call: Holthaus, Pickar, Mattke, Andersen. Abstain: Boge. Motion Carried.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Holthaus designates the official county newspapers as follows: New Hampton Tribune and Nashua Reporter. All Ayes. Motion Carried. Official board minutes are available on the Chickasaw County website and the Code of Iowa Section 349.3 stating the minimum requirement for number and selection having a population below fifteen thousand as being two official newspapers.
Motion by Boge. Seconded by Holthaus for the Board of Supervisors to meeting in regular session every Monday and Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Holthaus, Seconded by Mattke set bounty fees of one dollar for each pair of pocket gopher front feet. All Ayes. Motion Carried
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Pickar to set mileage reimbursement at $.36 per mile for 2009. Discussion followed. Motion by Holthaus, Seconded by Boge to amend original motion to set mileage reimbursement at $.38. per mile for 2009. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Mattke to set per diem meal reimbursement rate not to exceed $25.00. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Holthaus re-appoint Dusten Rolando as County Engineer for 2009. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Mattke, Seconded by Andersen to re-appoint Alice J. Bartz, as County Assistance Director for 2009. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Holthaus, Seconded by Boge to re-appoint Joe Sheehy as Veterans Affairs Director for 2009. All Ayes. Motion Carried
Motion by Mattke, Seconded by Holthaus re-appoint all current members of Eminent Domain Commission for 2009 as on file in the Auditor’s Office. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Andersen to appoint Brian Moore as weed commissioner for 2009. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Boge Seconded by Holthaus, to appoint Board members to the following committee’s assignments. All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Doug Welton, Assessor, met with the Board to review comparison of assessed valuation year 2007 vs. 2008.
Ken Rasing met with Board to update on Heritage Residence.
