COUNTY BOARD MINUTES
MAY 11 & 12, 2009
The Board convened on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 9:30 A.M. with all members present: Pickar, Boge, Holthaus, and Andersen. Mattke The meeting was called to order by Chairman Pickar. Mail was opened and distributed.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Holthaus to approve agenda for May 11 & 12, 2009. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Holthaus approve board minutes of May 4 & 5, 2009. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Andersen, Seconded by Holthaus to approve fireworks permit for Dan Sumner. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
County Engineer Dusten Rolando met with the Board to discuss road departmental activities.
Supervisor Holthaus left the meeting at 10:10 A.M. to attend funeral.
Supervisor Boge left the meeting at 10:20 A.M. to attend health insurance meeting with
Auditor’s Staff.
Brian Schoon, INRCOG, and Fred Hall, Chairman Planning Commission met with Board to discuss County Zoning Contract and Resolution.
Motion by Andersen, Seconded by Mattke that a contract with Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments (INRCOG) be executed for development of a Chickasaw County Zoning Ordinance not to exceed $10,000.00, Resolution to request the Assistance of the INRCOG Staff and authorize Chairman to sign Resolution and contract. Roll Call: Ayes: Mattke, Andersen, Pickar. Motion Carried.
RESOLUTION 05-11-09-09: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CHICKASAW COUNTY, IOWA TO REQUEST THE ASSISTANCE OF THE STAFF OF THE IOWA NORTHLAND REGIONAL COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
WHEREAS, Chickasaw County (hereinafter referred to as the County) has agreed to the Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement creating the Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments (hereinafter referred to as INRCOG or the Planning Agency) and is a member in good standing; WHEREAS, the County wishes to engage INRCOG to provide certain technical and professional services in connection with the: Development of a Zoning Ordinance WHEREAS, the Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement gives INRCOG the responsibility outlined in Chapter 28E, Code of Iowa: NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved by the Board of Supervisors of Chickasaw County, Iowa that INRCOG be requested to provide staff assistance in the above mentioned project; and THAT, the Board of Supervisors understands and will comply with all guidelines as established in the agreement. Kathy Babcock, Public Nurse Administrator met with the Board for departmental updates.
Jeanne Heit, Homemaker Director, met with the Board for departmental updates.
Motion by Mattke, Seconded by Andersen to approve Tracey Adams as part-time on call homemaker aide at $9.00 per hour with 50 cents increase upon successfully completed probationary period as per union contract effective May 5, 2009. Roll Call:
All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Motion by Boge, Seconded by Mattke to approve Old Bradford Pioneer Village Gift Shop Liquor License and Sunday Sales Application. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Motion by Mattke, Seconded by Holthaus to approve fireworks permit for Deb Christensen. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Discuss Goal Planning.
John Andersen will be the contact person for the project and will update the department heads of the upcoming questionnaire.
Discussion of the First Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life Bike Ride across Chickasaw County.
Motion by Boge, Seconded by Holthaus to approve the indemnification waiver for the First Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life Bike Ride across Chickasaw County on county roads subject to the recommendations of the County Sheriff and County Engineer. Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.
