The Chickasaw County Attorney's office is located at 17 N. Locust Avenue, New Hampton, IA 50659. The mailing address is P.O. Box 189, New Hampton, Iowa 50659. The office of Chickasaw County Attorney is a part-time position. The county attorney is aided by an assistant county attorney, which is also a part-time position. Presently the Chickasaw County Attorney is Patrick Wegman. The Assistant County Attorney is Mark E. Huegel. The office supports one part-time secretary, Mary Roths.

Responsibilities/Duties

The Chickasaw County Attorney is the legal advisor and chief law enforcement officer for Chickasaw County.  The County Attorney's office does:

• Prosecute all violations of state criminal laws and county ordinances
• Provide legal advice to the Board of Supervisors, county and township officers concerning county matters
• Represent and defend the state, county, and its officers in officially related cases
• Recover moneys (debts, fines, penalties, etc.) owing to the state or county
• Present all mental health committment proceedings and all juvenile delinquency and child in need of assistance cases
