COUNTY BOARD MINUTES

MAY 12 & 13, 2008

 

The Board convened on May 12, 2008 at 9:30 AM with all members present: Boge, Pickar, Huegel, Schueth, Mattke. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Boge. Mail was opened and distributed.

 

Motion by Schueth, Seconded by Mattke, to approve agenda for May 12 & 13, 2008.   All Ayes, with Motion Carried.

 

Motion by Schueth, Seconded by Huegel, to approve meeting minutes of May 5 & 6, 2008.  Roll Call: All Ayes. Motion Carried.

 

Ken Rasing updated the Board of a mobile commander center with a mock tornado disaster drill to be held at the hospital on May 14, 2008.

 

County Engineer Dusten Rolando met with the Board to discuss road activities. Area road construction projects were reviewed.  The water drainage on Panora Avenue south of 120th Street was reviewed with the engineer illustrating the remedy underway by the county.  Completion of the replacement bridge project near North Washington on V18 was delayed when one section was discovered unacceptable and in need of replacement due to concrete deficiency.  Piers on the replacement bridge on V56 are set and ready to progress forward.

    

The Board allowed claims.

 

Homemaker Director Jeanne Heit met with the Board regarding homemaker aide staffing issues and progress of union negotiations.

 

Veterans Affairs Director Joe Sheehy met with the Board regarding new legislation requiring Veterans Affairs offices be open 20 hours weekly.

 

Motion by Pickar, Seconded by Huegel to adjourn at 11:33 AM.  All Ayes, with Motion Carried.

 

The Board convened on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 9:30 AM with a quorum present: Huegel, Schueth, Mattke. Boge was absent; Mattke was absent at 10 AM and Pickar was present at 10:08 AM.  The meeting was called to order with the Board allowing claims.

 

Board members Huegel, Schueth and Pickar attended county employees’ safety meeting at the Community Services Building Meeting Room from 10-11 AM.

 

Board members Pickar, Huegel and Schueth returned to the Board room to allow claims.

 

The Board received and placed on file Veterans Affairs Report of April 2008.  An amendment for Mike Link original manure management plan submitted previously to the IDNR, for a new site location in Section 6 of Chickasaw Township was received and placed on file. Also received and filed additional required Manure Management Plan Annual Update information for Meirick Enterprises LLC (ID#58676) located in Section 24 of Utica Township at 3324 100th Street, Protivin.

 

Motion by Huegel, Seconded by Schueth, to adjourn at 11:33 AM.  Three Ayes, with Motion Carried.
